About

Background

I'm a software engineer with 2.5+ years of professional experience in software development, systems integration and infrastructure deployment. I worked at the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), a research and development organisation under the Government of India, contributing to large-scale national level emergency response platforms including Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112), Women Helpline (WHL-181) and Child Helpline (CHL-1098).

My work included developing backend services using Node.js, MongoDB, PostgreSQL and RabbitMQ, including the integration of Google Emergency Location Service (ELS) and the WhatsApp Business Platform. I also worked on Linux servers, virtual machines, VMware ESXi, vCenter, load balancing and network configuration as part of system deployment and integration activities.

I hold an MSc in Information Systems with First Class Honours from the University of Galway and a B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering. For my MSc research I designed SPHERE, a framework for secure health record exchange, and built a working prototype that connects two independent EHR systems and a patient portal using HL7 FHIR, Node.js, MongoDB and PostgreSQL. My academic work has further developed my experience in cloud computing, AWS, CI/CD, Agile and software development. I'm interested in opportunities across software engineering, backend development and cloud or systems engineering.

Software Engineer

Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC)
R&D Organisation under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India

  • Designed and integrated Google Emergency Location Service (ELS) into the PAN-India Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112), reducing location-fetch time by up to 80%.
  • Built a centralised server and distributed backend modules using Node.js, MongoDB, RabbitMQ and React, working with government officials and third-party providers.
  • Improved ELS backend performance by 200% by optimising database queries and server configuration, and benchmarked it with Apache JMeter to sustain 4,500+ requests/second in a mission-critical production environment.
  • Improved emergency call handling time over 80% by integrating the WhatsApp Business Platform with ERSS-112 using Node.js, React, Kafka and PostgreSQL, enabling precise GPS-based caller location and automating the collection of basic caller information.
  • Built a Grafana-based dashboard to monitor ELS server health and message throughput across a 3-node distributed configuration.
  • Contributed to R&D work on LoRa-based IoT communication systems using STM32 and Raspberry Pi Pico, exploring a redundant long-range connectivity channel for emergency-response applications.
  • Deployed and managed 30+ Linux virtual machines per state using VMware ESXi and vCenter, including server configuration, patching, upgrades, load balancing, networking and infrastructure troubleshooting to maintain high availability for ERSS-112.
  • Reduced deployment time by 75% by maintaining accurate, step-by-step technical documentation for system configuration, deployment and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Provided day-to-day and on-call support for ERSS-112 across 25+ states, resolving application and integration issues including after-hours incidents, provisioning operator user accounts and escalating hardware issues to vendors (HP, Dell).
  • Enabled adoption of new systems across 10+ states in India by delivering on-site installation, configuration and technical training for ERSS-112, Women Helpline (WHL-181) and Child Helpline (CHL-1098).

Beyond Code

Exploring the world through a different lens

Outside of systems and code, I enjoy photography as a creative outlet, shooting as @the_clickr.
My work mainly focuses on nature, light, landscapes, and long-exposure astrophotography, with an interest in capturing details and moments that are easy to overlook.
